Law enforcement officials have rescued a 5-year-old boy and arrested a 41-year-old man following a standoff with police in Hoboken.

Law enforcement officials have rescued a 5-year-old boy and arrested a 41-year-old man following a standoff with police in Hoboken.
Authorities say that police arrived at a home on the 700 block of Garden Street Friday afternoon after receiving calls from concerned neighbors and the child’s school.
Police tried to make contact with the family inside, and were able to get a woman to come out. But police say that the child and the man were still inside the home.
The SWAT team was eventually sent in after a few hours of communications with the man, crisis negotiators and a school resource officer.
Police rescued the boy around 7 p.m. and took the man into custody. No one was hurt.
The man, who has not been identified, is now facing 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child charges.
