An alleged illegal prescription drug ring has been busted in the Bronx.

Six people were charged Tuesday in connection to a ring that investigators say was run out of Joaquin Grocery and Deli on Morris Avenue in Melrose.

Investigators say people on Medicaid with prescriptions for drugs including Oxycontin, Percocet and HIV medications would sell them to the suspects. The drugs were then resold on the streets. The prescription bottles were also stripped of their labels and resold to pharmacies.

Court documents show a string of violent incidents at and near the store, with the most recent in March. One of the drug ring suspects was shot and the bodega was robbed.

Investigators say they became suspicious after noticing an expensive gold bracelet and cash in a cigar box on the counter were not taken. Police now believe the robbers stole or tried to steal prescription drugs and drug-related money.
