Police: Pilot killed when helicopter crashes on South Brunswick-Princeton border

The crash happened near Euclid Avenue and Academy Street just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

A pilot was killed when his helicopter crashed into the water on the South Brunswick-Princeton border, according to the South Brunswick Police Department.
The crash happened near Euclid Avenue and Academy Street just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say that multiple witnesses reported seeing a helicopter flying erratically and then disappearing behind the tree line.

Police say that two responders were the first on the scene and found the helicopter upside down in the water. Police say that these responders pulled the pilot from the craft but that he died on the scene.
It was not immediately clear what caused the helicopter to crash. The pilot’s name is being withheld until the family can the notified. News 12 has learned that he was an Israeli national.
Police say that the helicopter took off from Princeton Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating.
No one on the ground was injured.
