Some Perth Amboy schools were put into a shelter-in-place on Friday amid reports of a suspicious student.
Police say it was believed the student, who has been taken into custody, had a gun near a high school and was possibly headed toward another high school in the city looking for a specific student. Police say this student, who was not identified, did not possess a gun and there is no danger to the public.
The shelter-in-place order was issued around 12:10 p.m. and lasted about 90 minutes.
Anyone who might have information about the incident is urged to call Detective Nolasco at 732-732-3879.
