A Paterson man is facing charges in a strong-armed robbery of a 77-year-old woman in Haledon, according to police.

Haledon police say Bornnazee Mceachern, 24, pushed the woman to the ground and stole her purse. This allegedly happened Monday just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of 445 Haledon Ave.

Police say the woman suffered lacerations on her right arm and left leg. They say her purse has $400 inside, plus other personal items.

Authorities were able to identify Mceachern as the suspect and took him into custody about two hours later.

“This incident serves as an important reminder that crime can occur anywhere, highlighting the importance of community vigilance,” Mayor Michael Johnson wrote in a statement.

Mcearchern was charged with second-degree robbery and was taken to the Bergen County Jail.
