A man has been arrested in connection to the shooting of a 5-year-old girl, officials say.

Elizabeth police say Terry Edmonds is facing weapons and assault charges.

He is accused of using a 22-caliber handgun in the shooting. The weapon has not been found.

Police say Edmonds was arrested during a traffic stop on Sunday.

The child was shot in the leg.
