A home invasion was reported in Spring Lake over the weekend.
Police say the family that called for help lives along Tuttle Avenue in Spring Lake.
Authorities have confirmed that 36-year-old Georgy Charles, of Jersey City, was confronted by the homeowner in their second-floor bedroom before he ran from the property.
The residents gave police a description of Charles and the car he was driving.
At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police spotted the suspect in his car on Route 35 and he was pulled over at a Sunoco gas station on West Sylvania Avenue in Neptune City.
However, there was a standoff for two hours, as police say Charles barricaded himself in the car and refused to get out. Eventually, the county SWAT team came in, and Charles was arrested.
Charles is charged with burglary and trespassing.
Two years ago, police records show he was arrested for stealing a car out of a Kearny impound lot. That time, he was stopped by the police and refused to get out of the car.
He was charged with theft and aggravated assault after driving into a police car.
Charles is in the Monmouth County Jail awaiting a court date.
