Law enforcement officials are looking for the public’s help identifying a man who is accused of threatening two Wawas in South Brunswick.
Police say that in the past week, the suspect went into two separate Wawa locations and threatened to shoot up the store. Authorities have released surveillance videos in the hope that someone will be able to identify the man.
The first incident happened last Thursday around 9:30 p.m. at the Wawa on Route 535. The next incident was Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. at the Wawa on Georges Road.
The suspect is described as a Black male. He was seen wearing a black puffer coat, dark bottoms and black and white Nike Jordans. He’s said to be about 6 feet tall with locs. The suspect is seen in the video gesturing his hand like a gun as he leaves the store after having words with employees.
“With every single one, especially in today’s climate, we have to take every single complaint as serious - as if it was until we find out that it wasn’t,” says South Brunswick Police Detective Sgt. Timothy Hoover.
Police also say that the suspect came and left in a silver Kia sedan. He was the passenger.
Anyone who might have information is asked to call Detective Brooke LaBell at 732-329-4000 ext. 7430.
