A 17-year-old woman from Kendall Park has died in a car crash in Franklin Township.

Officials say her Jeep Commander was traveling southbound on Canal Road when it left the roadway and went into the canal near Suydam Road.

According to police, an aviation team searched for an hour before locating the crash site. Divers then entered the water and pulled the driver from the vehicle.

She died after being transported to a local hospital.
