A major police investigation locked down a neighborhood in Neptune Township.

Police say that as of 10 p.m. Wednesday, there was a person barricaded inside of a home in the area around Route 33 and Eighth Avenue.

Details about the incident were not immediately available, but Neptune Township police asked people to avoid the area. They say it was an isolated incident with no danger to the public.

Some residents who spoke with News 12 New Jersey say that they were out when the situation began and were not allowed back into their homes. People who were inside their homes were also not allowed to leave.

Power was cut off to the area for a time.

County and local law enforcement departments are involved in the investigation.
