Sussex County law enforcement officials have added to a reward for information to find a missing Seeing Eye dog, bringing the total to $6,000.
Ondrea, a German shepherd, was to begin training as a service dog at The Seeing Eye training facility in Morristown. But the dog ran away from the volunteer who was caring for her and has not been seen since.
“While this may not currently be considered a ‘crime,’ we feel that if someone has taken her, this additional reward may aid in her safe return,” said Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada in a statement.
The sheriff says that the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office has a great relationship with The Seeing Eye and that two of the department’s K9 officers were donations from the group.
Anyone who may have information about the dog’s whereabouts can call Sussex County Crime Stoppers at 973-300-CRIME or call The Seeing Eye at 973-525-1084.
