Police: Homeless man killed while trying to cross Route 9 in Howell

Howell Township police say that a man believed to be homeless was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross Route 9.

Howell Township police say that a man believed to be homeless was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross Route 9.
It is believed that the 48-year-old man climbed over the cement barrier that separates the lanes of the highway near Kent Road. Police say the driver of a Subaru traveling in the southbound lanes struck the man, who was not identified.
The driver stayed at the scene. The victim died a short time later.
Police say that the driver is not expected to face any charges.
