An East Hanover man is facing charges following a pop-up party at a Fairfield warehouse.
Officials say Victor Montana sublet a warehouse unit on June 1 for a birthday party involving car detailing. The warehouse is located on Commerce Road.
Police were called to the warehouse for reports of loud music. Officials say that as police arrived, large groups of people from the party began to leave all at once, resulting in two separate motor vehicle crashes on Commerce Road.
Officials say that officers found the unit filled with smoke and littered with debris. They say that the fire and carbon monoxide detectors inside the unit were removed. Multiple vehicles with external speakers were also found inside.
“The Fairfield Police Department, along with our fire and zoning officials, take these pop-up style events seriously and will prosecute those involved to the fullest extent,” Public Information Officer Stacy Chiarolanza wrote in a statement.
Montana was charged with a criminal violation of maintaining a nuisance. He also received local ordinance charges for general noise and operating a disorderly business.
