A driver struck several trees before crashing into a gun and ammunition shop in Ocean County early Friday morning, causing a gas leak.
Stafford Township police say that the crash happened just before 2 a.m. at P&K Firearms and Ammo located at 63 East Bay Ave.
Police say that 20-year-old Ramon Davis Jr. was driving a 2016 Ford Edge westbound on Bay Avenue, when he drove off the road. Police say that he traveled at least two blocks before crashing into the gun shop, driving over bushes and trees in the process. Parts of the vehicle were seen strewn about the area.
Davis sustained a minor injury, according to officials, and was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment. There were no other injuries reported.
The crash compromised a gas line, resulting in the evacuation of nearby residents for a time. The area has since been deemed safe.
It was not clear why Davis drove off the road, but officials say that it did not appear to be intentional.
