A tree that fell on power lines in Hunterdon County caused a fire in one home and caused power surges in others.
The incident happened Monday around 7:30 p.m. during a period of severe weather.
West Amwell Township police say that a tree fell near Rocktown-Lamberville Road. The tree fell on the electrical lines, causing electricity to “back feed” into four homes.
One home had a fire and three others had electric surges that caused the home to fill with smoke.
Jersey Central Power & Light responded to the scene and secured the power lines.
No injuries were reported.
