Hoboken’s chief of police says that his department will make sure that SantaCon does not happen this year as COVID-19 cases spike around the state.
“If bars try to take part in a SantaCon during this huge second wave of coronavirus that we’re having, if there are violations that day, they’re going to pay the price for it. They’re going to get hit with sanctions,” Chief Ken Ferrante told NJ.com.
SantaCon is a bar crawl where participants dress up as Santa Claus or in Christmas attire. The annual event is not sanctioned by the city. Last year’s event led to arrests, hospitalizations and more than 500 calls for service.
