Police chase in Newark ends in car crash; 1 officer hurt

Police say they were investigating a report of shots fired when they saw the suspect's vehicle and began a pursuit.

A police chase in Newark led to a violent car crash Saturday in which an officer was injured.
Video in the aftermath of the crash shows police officers in pursuit of a suspect.
The people who took the video said it happened around 11:40 a.m. in the ironbound section near Jefferson and Nichols streets.
Police say they were investigating a report of shots fired when they saw the suspect's vehicle and began a pursuit.
Police were able to get the suspect into custody after the crash. He was later taken to a hospital for a possible drug overdose.
A Newark police officer was also hurt when her car collided with three others.
No one else was injured.
