An 8-year-old boy was rescued after trapping himself in a sand hole at a Belmar beach Saturday.

An 8-year-old boy was rescued after trapping himself in a sand hole at a Belmar beach Saturday.
The incident happened just before 2 p.m.
Police say the sides of the 8-foot deep hole that the child dug caved in and covered him.
Lifeguards, bystanders and emergency workers helped to dig until they pulled the boy out.
He was taken to a local hospital.
