Three people, including an 8-year-old girl, drowned in a swimming pool in East Brunswick, according to police.

East Brunswick police say that a 32-year-old woman, her daughter and a 62-year-old relative died at the Clearview Road home around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say that a neighbor called 911 after hearing screaming and initially reported it as a fall victim. Police say that they believe the screaming was the mother calling out for help inside the pool.

Authorities say that when police arrived, they found the three people inside the pool. They say they tried to perform CPR, but all three were pronounced dead.

The names of the victims were not released. Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey they had moved into the home just about two weeks ago.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating.
