Police: 2 separate attempted luring incidents reported in Elmwood Park
Elmwood Park police say that investigators are looking into two separate attempted luring cases in the town involving elementary school students.
Authorities say that two students, ages 11 and 12, separately reported that they were walking home from Gilbert Avenue Elementary School when they were approached by two men in a dark minivan with tinted windows. Police say that they believe that the van was a Chevy.
The Elmwood Park police chief told News 12 New Jersey that in both cases the children ran away when the van slowed down. The children apparently told police the "dark-skinned" men inside told them: "You're beautiful. Do you want a ride?"
Police say that the incidents occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, but were not reported to the school or police until Thursday.
Investigators say that they sent out messages to surrounding police departments to see if similar incidents were reported in the area.
Police are also looking for any witnesses or surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the suspects.
Anyone who may have addition information about the incidents is asked to contact the Elmwood Park Police Department.
