Police: 2 accused of assaulting Dollar Tree manager who caught them shoplifting

Two people are facing charges for allegedly assaulting a Dollar Tree store manager who caught them shoplifting, according to police.
Paramus police officials say officers were called to the Dollar Tree at 275 Route 4 West for a report of a robbery in progress. Officials say that when the officers arrived, they found the store manager, who appeared to be disheveled and showed signs of having been in a physical altercation.
Police say the manager told them that she saw a man and woman trying to steal $60 worth of health and beauty products. She says that as she tried to stop them, they assaulted her by grabbing her hair, bending her fingers and grabbing her arm.
The manager was not seriously hurt but did get a small laceration on her arm.
Police identified the suspects as 43-year-old Sonya Schoenbrunn, of Closter, and 60-year-old Alan Edelstein, of Hackensack. They were located and arrested a few miles away in nearby River Edge.
Schoenbrunn and Edelstein were each charged with second-degree robbery.
Schoenbrunn was being held at the Bergen County Jail pending her first court appearance. Edelstein was processed and released.
