A dozen individuals were arrested after multiple fights broke out Saturday night during Gloucester Township Day at Veterans' Memorial Park.
Police say crowds of young people began congregating in large groups as families were waiting for a drone light show to begin.
Some of the groups started fighting each other at around 8:40 p.m. Two arrests were made, but the crowds continued to act disorderly.
Authorities say the drone light show was started early “due to the volatility of the situation.”
Some people in the crowd were wearing black clothing and covering their faces with hoodies. They walked to a nearby shopping center, where more fights broke out.
Police determined that most of the juveniles were not from Gloucester Township and had been dropped off at the event.
Authorities say a 33-year-old Camden man also rode his bicycle into a group of officers trying to disperse a crowd. One officer fell and suffered minor injuries.
Two adults and 10 juveniles were arrested following the incident.
