Police: 1 dead, 2 injured in Bridgeport shooting; suspect arrested

Police arrested a suspect after a person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting early Saturday morning on the East Side of Bridgeport.
Officers say the incident took place at 1:50 a.m. by Washington Park at the intersection of Barnum Avenue near Knowlton Street. 
Police say eight shots were fired, according to their shot spotter activation system. They arrived to the location and found that three people were shot.
Police say one man, 21, has been confirmed dead and two other people were injured but are expected to recover. All three victims were taken to Bridgeport Hospital. 
"It's heartbreaking," Bridgeport's Nashiema Gruel told News 12. ""We have children around here. This goes on all the time."
Police say the shooting began when a group of people were getting ready to go to a local lounge shortly after midnight. They say that a conflict arose.
Police say shots were fired and a chase took place. It ended in the North End of Bridgeport by Trumbull Gardens.
Officers say they want to commend Officer Corey Baldwin, of the Bridgeport Police Department, for what they described as his brave work following the suspect in his vehicle. 
Police say one person was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
