Prosecutor: Point Pleasant man charged with attempted murder for choking woman

A man from Point Pleasant was charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident that happened in the borough back in August 2022, according to Ocean County prosecutors.
Police found a woman unconscious with serious injuries to her head and neck in a home on Butler Avenue, prosecutors say. Juan Santiago-Rojas, 31, was accused of choking the woman to the point of unconsciousness.
Juan Santiago-Rojas was initially charged with aggravated assault and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested in North Carolina and brought back to New Jersey, where he is being held at Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
His relationship with the victim is unclear.
