After a week of damaging storms down at the Shore, residents are grateful that the worst of Tropical Depression Debby’s impact will avoid them.
“It’s been a heck of a week weather-wise,” said Colleen Yates, who owns 3G Golf in Point Pleasant Beach.
The deluge from Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday’s storms caused serious flooding and uprooted trees.
Persistent winds uncovered a growing sandbar along the Point Pleasant Beach side of Manasquan Inlet, which became a surfer’s paradise Thursday night as wind speeds picked up again.
The threat of a tropical storm over the western part of the state isn’t making a dent in people’s plans back east.
The Point Pleasant Beach Office of Emergency Management is emphasizing flash flooding safety, having an emergency kit ready in case of power outages and to avoid downed power lines.
