The FAA says American Airlines Flight 1256 from Miami landed safely at LaGuardia Airport Tuesday after reporting a bird strike.
FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac says a bird flew into the plane's landing gear at an altitude of 900 feet shortly before 11 a.m. The species of the bird is yet to be determined.
After landing safely, the inbound Boeing 737 was taxiing when it reported trouble with the nose gear and had to be towed to the gate. None of the passengers were aware of the incident, Salac says.
