Jersey City officials announced that schools will dismiss students early on Tuesday as the region prepares for heavy World Cup–related congestion.

The decision applies to all district schools, with dismissal scheduled for 12:45 p.m.

Tuesday's France vs. Senegal match at New York New Jersey Stadium has a 3 p.m. kickoff. Gates are set to open at noon, creating logistical challenges across the region.

Officials said the decision was made to ensure students can get home safely before the peak influx of event-related traffic begins.

All after-school activities have been canceled.

New Jersey officials continue to encourage matchgoers to travel to the stadium via NJ Transit.
