A Monmouth County pizzeria that drew acclaim for borrowing heavily to keep its workers on the payroll during the coronavirus outbreak was forced to temporarily close.
Federico’s in Belmar touched off a wave of pay-it-forward donations for those fighting the virus, including hospital workers, police, firefighters and EMS workers. Its two owners took out a $50,000 line of credit to keep their 20 employees on the payroll for at least two months.

But the owners said Monday that they were suspending business "to keep our employees, families and customers safe.”
This comes as leaders in Avalon, Wildwood, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest said they’re closing their beaches to stem the outbreak.
