It was a close call for a pilot in North Jersey Sunday as she was forced to make an emergency landing and nearly slammed into a busy highway.
The pilot radioed the control tower at LaGuardia airport saying she had to make an emergency landing. She picked an open field, but couldn't get the plane to stop. It went past the field, nearly crashing into the nearby highway.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was injured badly enough to be taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffolk County, New York.
The pilot was last reported in stable condition. The plane was towed to Teterboro Airport, where the National Transportation Safety Board will examine it.
