News 12 is getting an inside look at what it's like to raise a child with autism. 

Lizette Hernandez pictured her life one way, but says autism took it in another direction after the birth of her son Donovan, and she wouldn't change it for anything . 

Hernandez says Donovan has tackled one challenge after another with the right attention in school, therapy every week and reading his social skills book each day. 

"Never think, oh my child has autism, he can't do the things that other children can do," Hernandez advises other parents. "He's alive, he's healthy, and he's my child, and I'm gonna love him no matter what."
