Hoboken declares a state of emergency this afternoon and you can see why roads turned to rivers. The city feared a flash flood like this news. 12, New Jersey's Tony Caputo has been in thunderbolt 12 getting around Hoboken at least trying to much of the day. Tony. We know at one point you had to take thunderbolt 12 to higher ground because of the water. We did. We were right in this area a little earlier this morning, Monroe Street. Ninth Street, Madison is just at the next block and that water started to rise. So we went up to Washington up the hill. If you will, you see this gentleman walking his kids out as well. There's a smart start academy here and folks are coming to get their kids out of the academy early as well. And Hoboken tells me that there have been some water rescues made here by the fire department. Some folks trying to drive through some high water, their car stalled. They told me nothing dramatically dangerous. But again, these folks get stuck in the water and you can see it here. This is Ninth Street and this was the situation earlier. This morning when we got out here and we saw many more vehicles stuck in this flood water. I live on the corner so we're kind of used to this. This is not good. I didn't know it was that bad and it got bad fast as rain continued to fall. Hoboken Streets continued to flood this liquor store owner on Ninth Street was ready. Sandbags piled about 3 ft high cars parked, there were quickly trapped by floodwater even though signs were posted to avoid parking here. It's because the parking is so tough to get around here. We're lucky. We have a spot in our building at about 9 25 this morning, an emergency alert to those in and around Hoboken. Those who could still access. Their cars were forced to turn around on Madison Street because the flooding got too high at Madison in 10th just in front of the shop. Right. Hopefully, this ends soon. I'm really tired of the rain and it's just a lot. Yeah, this is not good for anybody. It's not safe. Yes, you just seem worn out by all this. Right. All this rain that we had of late. We can all understand that again. You're looking at Ninth Street as bad as it is, the water is slowly starting to recede as we get a break from the rain over here on Monroe. This is behind the shop, right. This water has receded significantly since noon today. So that is a good sign. Good news. Be careful driving Hoboken, asking folks not to drive. But you see a lot of folks are still out here on the roadways. That's the latest from Hoboken, Tony Caputo News 12 New Jersey. And that sound by parking is so hard to come by. Some may risk the flood Tony. Thank you.
