Pharmacies across Westchester County are running out of children's medications for the flu.
It comes amid a worsening flu season that has blanketed much of the U.S.
Local pharmacists say because of the rough flu season, demand for medication is high and inventory is low.
Grassy Sprain Pharmacy in Yonkers and Fleetwood Pharmacy in Mount Vernon were among the pharmacies that still had plenty of stock, as of Sunday.
So far this flu season, 53 children have died across the country, with 16 deaths reported last week. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu is widespread and likely hasn't hit its peak yet.
People with children who have the flu are advised to call their local pharmacies ahead to see if they have child doses of medication in stock.
