Parents in Perth Amboy are following in their children’s footsteps to call for changes at the city’s school district after an 11-year-old boy was stabbed off school grounds, allegedly by another 11-year-old.
The parents say that there is a lack of safety at Shull Middle School.
“We've been hearing stories that the school is out of control. I have a child in the seventh grade there. The kids are roaming the hallways. There's no accountability. Administrators are not running a tight ship there,” says parent William Ortiz. “The superintendent is missing in action.”
High school students walked out of class Monday morning. They marched four blocks to the middle school.
Smailyn Jimenez was stabbed last week while walking home from school. He underwent surgery and is still at the hospital recovering from his injuries.
