The mayor of Perth Amboy is calling on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to help with congestion after the town saw massive traffic backups over the weekend.
Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz said the heavy congestion was due to Outerbridge Crossing/Route 440 shore traffic.
“This is completely unacceptable, and the burden that this has put on our safety personnel. We just want you to see what the traffic this weekend has caused, but this definitely has to be addressed by the Port Authority,” the mayor said.
Diaz said went to live on Facebook Sunday night to show the backups.
So far, no word from Port Authority officials.
