A "Peace and Unity for our Community" march took place in Somerset Saturday afternoon after a recent uptick in violence throughout the community.
Some participants have lost family members to gun violence.
Leading the way was Gina Bowser who lost her son, Zakee, to a random shooting in 1997. She now works in an outreach program with other mothers to comfort parents who have experienced the same loss.
"It's time to come back together because we want to stop the murders, stop the funerals in our community," says Bowser. "We have to show love by uniting together. There is strength in numbers."
The march, which began at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, concluded with a block party on Wright Place.
