Leia has come a long way since arriving at Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption.
Credit Plainfield animal control and local officials for keeping Leia safe.
Shy at first, volunteers at the rescue say this female pit bull terrier is starting to come out of her shell.
"Leia is incredibly loving and sweet. She’s made amazing progress in a short time, and with the right guidance, she’s blossoming into a loyal and affectionate companion," her description on the Best Friends website states.
According to Best Friends spokesperson Lauren Denoma, Leia was found in Plainfield. She said workers from Plainfield Animal Control were instrumental in keeping the young pup safe until rescue volunteers arrived to bring her to Best Friends.
Leia is very smart and attentive, workers say. She is crate trained, housebroken and has been fully vetted. DeNoma said Leis would prefer to be the only "princess" in her new home, rather than have other pets living with her.
"She’s seeking a home where she can thrive and feel safe, surrounded by calm and consistency," the rescue says. "She’s looking for a foster or forever home where she can continue to grow and learn and offer all her heart in return."
Leia is only available for adoption in New jersey or surrounding areas. If your application is a match, volunteers will let you know within 48 hours.
