Anastasia is hoping for a happy ending to her story, which started more than 930 days ago when she arrived at the Associated Humane Societies shelter in Tinton Falls.
Described by volunteers as a "gentle giant," this 5-year-old pit bull-terrier mix has spent most of her life in a shelter and is ready to find a family to give her a good home.
"You might think that after all this time, she’d be depressed, difficult to handle, or on the verge of losing her mind. But Anastasia has proven to be the complete opposite," Kim Tamborra, assistant general manager of Associated Humane Societies in Tinton Falls said.
At 76 pounds, Anastasia is housebroken, trained and loves belly rubs. She's spayed and up to date with her shots. Volunteers describe her as a bit of a couch potato who is well-behaved and loves attention. She's not a huge fan of cats and can be selective with other dogs but is fine with children.
"We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure Anastasia gets her happy ending. After 930 days, she’s long overdue for the loving home she’s been waiting for," Tamborra said.
For more information or to meet Anastasia, email tintonfallsahs@ahsppz.org, call 732-922-0100 or fill out an application on line at ahscares.org/adopt. Anastasia's ID number is 59145. The Tinton Falls shelter is open daily from 12 to 4:30 p.m.
