PATH service in and out of New York City temporarily shut down Friday after a electrical fire broke out around 1 p.m.
Service was restored by 3 p.m. after firefighters doused the fire at PATH's control center at Journal Square in Jersey City, according to a Port Authority spokesperson.
The fire happened when water from construction being done at the Journal Square station seeped into the control center and caused a short circuit, knocking out signals and switches.
Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman says no injuries were reported.
