Many New Jersey riders hoping to get a break from the heat inside air-conditioned trains instead got hot under the collar Tuesday.
Service disruptions on some PATH trains made an uncomfortably hot day unbearable for some commuters.
Riders experienced a major disruption to their day when PATH service was suspended between 33rd Street in Manhattan and Journal Square in Jersey City.
"People are grumpy in 100-degree weather without an inconvenience or not, so of course they are grumpy," says Judy Celenza, of Jersey City.
The Port Authority blamed the delays on a track fire that damaged a power cable in Manhattan. New Jersey Transit cross-honored tickets, and the World Trade Center to Hoboken line continued to run.
"It was terrible. Like rugby or football - people trying to shove themselves through the doors," said Elsa Alvarado, of Hoboken, about her normally pleasant commute.
