Paterson officials have put together a program to send senior citizens care packages so that they do not have to go out and risk exposure to the coronavirus.
Paterson has partnered with MP Plastics for the project. The packages contain a case of bottled water, disposable medical masks, toilet paper, napkins and paper towels. Officials say that 188 seniors received packages on Tuesday.
“We have to make sure we come together as a community and that people see we are united as one Paterson, showing our strength, and showing our solidarity as we rally behind our most susceptible citizens,” says Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh.
Sayegh later announced that he himself has contracted the virus.
Seniors at the Joseph Masiello Building and the Maurice K Brock Residence all received packages.
