Nearly 5,000 pounds of fresh New Jersey produce is going to those in need.
Stop & Shop donated the produce that was distributed at Eva's Village, a Paterson nonprofit organization that offers food and shelter.
"Stop & Shop is a huge supporter of Eva's village. Oftentimes what they request from us is healthy, fresh produce. We wanted to do more than that and keep it local. By providing beyond the staples of non-perishables, it's important to do fresh produce that necessarily these communities don't have access to as regular customers would," said Stefanie Shuman, public relations manager for Stop & Shop New Jersey.
Eva's Village is always looking for donations and says $50 can buy 25 meals.
