Mayor Andre Sayegh hosted Paterson’s annual Ramadan Iftar on Wednesday, at City Hall, continuing a tradition that brings hundreds of interfaith community members together.

The event marks the breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan. As home to the largest Muslim population in New Jersey, Paterson utilizes the annual Iftar as a centerpiece for celebrating the city’s cultural and religious diversity.

"The Iftar is an opportunity to celebrate the city's diversity and recognize the importance of Ramadan to the community," city officials said in a statement.

The gathering will featured traditional Middle Eastern and Islamic cuisine, alongside remarks from various community and religious leaders. The event was designed to foster interfaith dialogue, inviting residents of all backgrounds to join in the evening meal.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.
