The city of Paterson is acknowledging victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The city raised a purple flag in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
City officials recognized domestic violence community advocate and activist Francisca Nunez for her commitment to the cause.
"I'm still here. In 2014, my ex-husband tried to stab me in front of my 16-year-old…I'm grateful that I'm alive,” she says.
The event called for more attention to the issue of domestic violence.
