A Paterson couple is being charged in the death of a 4-year-old girl.
Ashanti Givens and Givenchy Stewart, both 21 years old, were indicted in relation to the May 6 death of the child.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office says that Stewart, who is the girl’s father, and Givens left the child unattended in an apartment for an extended period on May 5 and May 6.
An autopsy showed that Givens had allegedly caused blunt force trauma, which later led to the girl’s death.
Givens and Stewart are charged with first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child and hindering.
