A Paterson cheerleading team has made history and now it needs help from the community.

Flamez Elite is the first Paterson cheer team to be invited to compete at the International Cheerleading Competition in Disney World.

A pep rally was held at City Hall on Friday. Residents were urged to support the team’s trip through donations.

"To think that we have the opportunity to go and compete and everything, and just live the moment is crazy. I would have never thought that. We're all really excited,” says senior team captain Yasmine Odeh.

The team’s coaches have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the trip.
