Passaic Mayor Hector Lora wants to plant more trees along Passaic Street and Market Street, and he's asking residents what kinds they would like to see.

In a Facebook video, Lora outlined a tree-planting initiative he plans to focus on in 2026 and 2027, saying he believes the city needs more trees.

"I don't believe we have enough trees, so I have a plan to plant trees and planters all the way down Passaic Street and all the way down Market Street," Lora said.

The mayor shared images showing how the streets could look with regular trees or cherry blossom trees. He asked residents whether they prefer one option or a combination of both.

Lora said he has planted more than 1,000 trees throughout Passaic since becoming mayor and wants to continue expanding those efforts.
