A family is suing the New Jersey Sharing Network, alleging they were misled about how their loved one’s donated organs and tissue would be used.
The Corsini family's son died in June. They claim the organization pressured them into donating tissue and other body parts without fully explaining how the donations would be used.
The family also alleges that they were not informed that the donation process would significantly alter their loved one’s appearance.
"This is shocking. We are not the only person or firm who has been disturbed by these facts. There is an ongoing investigation and we expect a full investigation by the very shady techniques of the New Jersey Sharing Network," said Nagel Rice, an attorney for the Corsini family.
The New Jersey Sharing Network has not publicly responded to the allegations. The lawsuit comes as the organization faces increased scrutiny from federal lawmakers and an ongoing investigation by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
