Residents looking to clear their criminal records had a chance to start the process.
An expungement clinic was held at Passaic County Community College.
Attorneys volunteered their time to meet with those looking to move past previous convictions.
"Today is just an opportunity to make sure that folks get expungement services if they like, but also additional resources," said Danielle Drummond, vice president of the organization Social Equity.
Chirali Patel, of Blaze Law Firm, added, "How do you rehabilitate yourself when the same record prevents you from getting a better job or getting your life back on track? Coming here and freeing yourself from that prior record is going to enable you to be a better citizen."
The clinic was organized by several nonprofits and Passaic County.
