Parsippany cancer survivor gets rainforest wish granted
A young cancer survivor from Parsipanny received news Friday that she is going on the trip of a lifetime.
Hannah Cerullo, 12, dreamed of seeing the rainforest while she was sick with Wilms tumor in 2017.
On Friday, Cerullo had that dream come true when she was surprised with an all-expenses-paid trip to Costa Rica via the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Cerullo's family says she endured grueling treatment, switching to more aggressive chemotherapy that landed her in the hospital. Today, she is cancer-free.
"I'm overwhelmed. It's been a crazy ride," says Hannah's father Michael Cerullo.
Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children who battle life-threatening illnesses. The organization is supported by Jersey Mike's, where her surprise was revealed.
The family is leaving for six days to Costa Rica March 13.
