Travelers who use the Frank Lautenberg Train Station in Secaucus can for the first time ever park at the station.
The new lot has 1,100 spaces available for $10 a day. It took three years for Edison Properties, which runs the lot, to make the lot a reality.
The station was originally intended to be a transfer point, not a destination. The lack of parking made things difficult for many commuters who needed to use the station.
"I'm new to New Jersey and I was really surprised when I found out there was zero parking here," says Amy Jones, who uses the train to commute to Manhattan from Oakland. "It made me about an hour and a half late to work."
